Music is a mystery for people who play it, write it, listen to it, and write about it. The only thing I can really do when I try to say something about music is assume.
Oh gosh, I hadn't seen that in years! Ha ha! By the way, it's part of the mad scene from Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor, with part of one of the traditional cadenzas. The key is E-flat! Too bad the old recording doesn't capture all the vocal trills. Thanks for posting this - gave me a smile with my morning tea.
I thought it was from Lucia di Lammermoor. Thank you so much for clarifying that. I wonder who is singing? I doubt that it is actually the actress Marian Marsh.
I am active as a composer, a violist, a violinist, a recorder player, and as a teacher. I have been keeping this space in the blogosphere alive with assumptions about music (and assorted other things) since 2005.
