Music is a mystery for people who play it, write it, listen to it, and write about it. The only thing I can really do when I try to say something about music is assume.

Hildegard
Isn't it interesting that the only composer to ever achieve sainthood was a woman? You can find some excellent recordings of her music here.
A female composer who just learned this fact (and could share it with her class, updating the information in their textbook) was simply making a point.
I am active as a composer, a violist, a violinist, a recorder player, and as a teacher. I have been keeping this space in the blogosphere alive with assumptions about music (and assorted other things) since 2005.

Sorry to be so contrary, but Hildegard was never actually sainted.
So this article is innacurate?
A Jewish composer cares whether a Catholic composer is sainted or not? What difference does it make?
