What a treat to have a surprise trip to the musical zoo today (with viola in hand)! I fondly refer these "Advanced Viola Scale Studies" as "Upscale Tales," because the original name I had for the set of books was "Scale Tales." The first book (for violin, but which can also be played at pitch for viola) is entirely in first position, and the advanced book (recorded by Nathan Groot) uses the full range of the instrument. There's one for violin too--same music, same animals, but the animals present themselves in different keys.
You can hear more on this playlist, and learn more about the books by going to this link.
Thank you, Nathan!
