Music is a mystery for people who play it, write it, listen to it, and write about it. The only thing I can really do when I try to say something about music is assume.

Birthday Piece No. 3 for Viola d'amore and Piano
This year it was down to the wire, but I got it finished on my birthday: 52 measures for 52 years.
I am active as a composer, a violist, a violinist, a recorder player, and as a teacher. I have been keeping this space in the blogosphere alive with assumptions about music (and assorted other things) since 2005.

Happy Birthday Elaine! What a youthful and enervating piece! You make age 52 sound like fun.
Wrong term here. I meant energizing. Time to go study the dictionary...
Thanks Margie!
It's a new word for me too!
"Enervating" actually does describe part of my 52nd year rather well, but now I'm over the hump and have gotten some of my "élan" back.
Thank you! Lovely, intriguing, sprightly.
Invigorating, inspiring, inventive...that's more like it.
