Music is a mystery for people who play it, write it, listen to it, and write about it. The only thing I can really do when I try to say something about music is assume.

The Full Monteverdi
I just came across this trailer for a film that seems to be set to (or is the proper term against?) music from Monteverdi's Fourth Madrigal book. Boy, do I wish I could go to its preview screening next week.

Ah - wrong continent, I see. Thanks for this though - the DVD will be released on Naxos in November and we hope will be on US tv at some point if we can persaude a station or three to buy it.
We've just done the live show version at the Lincoln Center and may possibly bring it back there next year.
The film is released on DVD in the US this week (Jan 29th) on the Naxos label. Features English subtitles and comprehensive booklet with essays from Director and Music Director.
I am active as a composer, a violist, a violinist, a recorder player, and as a teacher. I have been keeping this space in the blogosphere alive with assumptions about music (and assorted other things) since 2005.
