Marshall Fine (1956-2014)

This a very sad time for our family and for Marshall's many friends, colleagues, and students. Memories of Marshall (which are ALWAYS interesting and colorful) are welcome in the comments.

I'm so very sorry, Elaine. Losing a sibling carries its own particular sorrow.

Deepest condolences to all of the Fines and the extended Fine family, and to all who loved Marshall.

It is right and fit to leave an anonymous condolence, because we all touch people's lives, people whom we shall never know. Among the mysteries of music itself is that your brother and you sang your duet in a previous post, from another time. He was unknown to me, and I to him. And yet the glory of music which he made has touched the many who might be properly known as anonymous, never to be known, ever to be touched by a life as by the passing of a life. Play on, gentle spirit and gentle spirits, for time and times to come. Omein.
