The question that came up the other day:
What is your brand?
The first thing that popped into my mind was "Henle."
Yes Michael. This is a hint. I'm three Sonatas into volume I, and would really like to own volume II.
What's your brand?

A footnote: I was telling Elaine about a questionnaire for musicians from an old Downbeat magazine. One of the questions, purposely vague, was “Favorite brand?” The answers included Cutty Sark and Mixture No. 79.
My answer is Pelikan.
I agree that Henley takes the cake. I just finished the Beethoven Piano and Violin Sonata cycle ( beginning and ending with the Kreutzer) using Joachim/Peters, and am now started on the Brahms cycle with Henle. No comparison. Henle is vastly superior, both from readability and scholarship (but not price!)
