Music is a mystery for people who play it, write it, listen to it, and write about it. The only thing I can really do when I try to say something about music is assume.

Someone Like Somebody That I Used To Know
Rachel and Ben are both home for the week, and they brought the two most popular current songs on the radio and sang them at the same time.
Clever . . . it's nice most of the current popular songs follow the same chord progressions . . . ;-) Katy Perry's recent "Wide Awake" is a new variation of Pachelbel's Cannon (like so many others . . . ). My kids and I like to sing the violin parts along with her when that song comes on the radio. haha
Actually Ben played the chords for the song that Rachel was singing! I really don't understand HOW he can actually do that. And the text juxtapositions just happened. They we're a surprise, and not a plan.
I am active as a composer, a violist, a violinist, a recorder player, and as a teacher. I have been keeping this space in the blogosphere alive with assumptions about music (and assorted other things) since 2005.

Brava! Bravo! Creates a wonderful feeling of contentment.
Thank you, Lyle. I believe that the greatest accomplishment of my life has been to raise two children who genuinely love one another.
Congratulations, Elaine!
