Music is a mystery for people who play it, write it, listen to it, and write about it. The only thing I can really do when I try to say something about music is assume.

Worth a Thousand Words
Violinist Enrique Fernandez Arbos, the first violinist of this quartet (that's him on the left) wrote on the back of this 1887 photograph that this was a rehearsal of a Mendelssohn quartet with the composer's nephews.
I am active as a composer, a violist, a violinist, a recorder player, and as a teacher. I have been keeping this space in the blogosphere alive with assumptions about music (and assorted other things) since 2005.

True musicians! Passion, confidence, vulnerability - all in one photo.
Nice meeting you, Elaine!
I wish I could attend your classes on music appreciation.
I also wish there were more movies like "All the Mornings of the World."
I hope you don't mind me "learning" by reading your posts!
What an interesting photo! I'd like to "borrow" it and post it in my blog... if you don't mind.
