A great example is the opening Preludio from the third Violin Partita (Gidon Kremer's performance of the entire Partita is at http://youtu.be/pFF_qS65LAM), which he expanded for a rather grand orchestra as the opening Sinfonia to Cantata 29 Wir danken dir, Gott (Masaaki Suzuki's performance of the Sinfonia is at http://youtu.be/UmTsMRYf21k).Stephen Owadeshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14266403920766165172noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10680113.post-3378207882804945172015-09-24T11:03:04.148-05:002015-09-24T11:03:04.148-05:00Glenn Gould says somewhere, “I believe in God — Ba...Glenn Gould says somewhere, “I believe in God — Bach’s God.”Michael Leddyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05547732736861224886noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10680113.post-37818119671069078142015-09-19T12:26:03.643-05:002015-09-19T12:26:03.643-05:00I have no authority to think of what people refer ...I have no authority to think of what people refer to as "God" as something other than my own concept. I believe, as with interpreting Bach, that there are many "correct" interpretations. Your God and my God might be the same (as Judiasm teaches us to proclaim), but I just don't feel right "naming" an unnamable entity.Elaine Finehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14248422399226824168noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10680113.post-71327858702243721192015-09-19T11:22:07.087-05:002015-09-19T11:22:07.087-05:00Try as I might, I am unable to understand the care...Try as I might, I am unable to understand the careful wording of "I feel connected to the concept of God" as perhaps opposed to "connected to God." The Gates of Repentance makes no such cautious avowal. Would you care to clarify?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
