Then we split into band kids, whose parents could afford to buy or rent instruments, and the rest of us in the orchestra, since the school provided the string instruments on loan. Funny how decisions are made that affect the rest of your (musical) life.gottagopracticehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08112740396190991150noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10680113.post-9579856090978019572008-11-13T07:08:00.000-06:002008-11-13T07:08:00.000-06:00One of my most ear-shattering experiences was hear...One of my most ear-shattering experiences was hearing the whole fourth grade in my town play the "Ode To Joy" in a huge gym on plastic soprano recorders. "Out of tune" acquired a whole new meaning that day. It is better to play soprano recorders in pairs, or better still, play them in combination with other recorders or other like-minded instruments.Elaine Finehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14248422399226824168noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10680113.post-1484337731279971062008-11-13T06:59:00.000-06:002008-11-13T06:59:00.000-06:00Oh I love your musical pipe dream... what a brilli...Oh I love your musical pipe dream... what a brilliant idea. I'm already trying to figure out how to let my (future, as yet nonexistant) child figure out what they want to play, but was paralysed by wanting to say all those things about brass and woodwind and strings. Recorder is a good idea I think, though they are quite hard to tune in big groups aren't they?

I quite like playing recorder as well.Erinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09511926573138262913noreply@blogger.com
